bullet proof FTP server on 1184 router

Hi there! I could use some help on setting up an FTP server at home. I have cable Internet service, a Toshiba cable modem, and Dell true mobile 1184 wireless and wired router. I have installed bulletproof FTP server. I am unable to connect with an FTP client to my external IP. The error message indicates that the connection has been refused. I have turned off my firewall, so I am not using my commercial firewall or Windows firewall. I put my internal IP into the DMZ of the router. I said the FTP port to 2000. Is there anyone out there who would be able to help me troubleshoot the problem and help me get an FTP server set up? I was going to use just like the gmail or Yahoo web page, but the files but I've been getting from work are usually around 50 to 75 MB of photos. thank you, Maria
