Thanks for the suggestion. I have previously downloaded the firmware upgrade but I can't access the router update software utility unless the router is connected and working. It seems like unless I can get the router back up and running I will never be able to flash the firmware upgrade. (The firmware upgrade was a zip file containing a single file: NWR04Bv1.02D1220.dlf
I haven't been able to find out anything specific about the LED pattern that's flashing on the router, but patterns like that tend to indicate a serious failure within the router. Have you tried calling
Network Everywhere Support at (888) 692-2496?

After calling the Network Everywhere support, it turned out that the unit was faulty.
