Can't secure network

Hey guys I can't secure my network.  I called Belkin tech support about it and they told me that it is my router.  I got a Dlink DI-24 and he said the WEP in there is a different WEP than my Belkin wireless network adaptor supports. Any suggestions?

Yes, on the box it says it does but tech support says it doesn't.
Still didn't work either.
