Can 2 computers share Internet access with Router w/o Network setup?

Before I try something that can't be done--Here's the setup: 2 computers one with ME and main one with W98se. W98 computer has cable modem access and I'd like to share the connection temporarily with the ME computer without sharing files by using a DLink 524 wireless router connected with Ethernet cables, no wireless. The computers are in the same room. DLink setup software is less than helpful. Do the computers have to be networked? Or can I just plug in the second ME comp's ethernet card into the router after setting up the connection on the first comp? The ME comp has PPOE software from a previous dsl connection that needs to be removed, but I'm not sure what else has to be done to the NIC.

This is easy.  Plug both computer's ethernet ports to the LAN ports on the D-Link.  Both should/will have internat access as is.  I would log into the router and disable wireless as it will be wide open and anyone close enough could associate and use your connection.  After logging in, on the left, should be a box saying Wireless.  Click that and there will be a Disable bullet on the webpage that shows up.  The manual will also walk you through that.

Thanks. I'll try it. The Dlink manual leaves lots to be desired.
