"Other people can still access the site with no problem."

Do you mean other people's computers can access the site on your home network? Or, they can access the site outside of your home network?

What model # Netgear router do you have?

Try updating your wireless adapter drivers on all machines and update the firmware(see below)on your router. Follow the update instructions that are provided at each link?

I have updated the router. The Speedstream 5100 modem is no longer available and there are no firmware updates. The wireless router for the Dell XPS7100 is up to date.

My attempts to ping that site (spiegel.de) still time out. I have not installed any new hardware, software, had no crashes, no viruses etc., have not tinkered with the size of the packets - nothing.

I have an older modem - Zyxel Prestige 645 - but I am reluctant to try it. Any further ideas?

Okay, getting a little confused here? Your previous post indicates you have 2 routers. Is this true?

Do you have the capability of connecting one of your computers directly to the DSL modem via ethernet cable?

Sorry. I have one desktop (XPS410) with a Speedstream 5100 modem and a Netgear router. Further I have a laptop XPS 7100 which I use to access the internet via the router when I am away from my desk.

Yes, I can hook up the desktop to the DSL via the Speedstream modem.

Okay, bypassing the router, connect one of your computers directly to the modem via ethernet cable. Power cycle your network:

1) Power everything off. (cable/DSL modem, router, computers, etc.)
2) Wait 5 minutes...
3) Power on cable/DSL modem, wait 1-2 minutes...
4) Power on remaining computers or components.
5) Check for network and Internet connection.

Check to see if you can now access the website? This will at least check to see if the problem is located within your router, or not.

Yes, I can now access the site again. Looks like the problem is in the router.

You need to configure your router back into the network, in order to access the web utility.

No parental controls. I log on as administrator. The problem web site is a german news magazine "Der Spiegel" similar to Newsweek and Times.

Go into the router's web-based utility( http://192.168.1.1 in web browser address bar) and look to see if the site's URL or IP address is set to be blocked?

Do you by any chance, have parental controls configured on your home network?

Thank you for your patience. So far everything functions as before. No more access problems. Sure would like to know what derailed so I can prevent a reoccurance. Thanx again for your help.
