during the setup of the wireless printer adapter - it asks you to select the SSID (i.e your wireless network name) after which it asks u to enter the security setting) ---- did u come across this option or not ????

after this it asks you to select the security setting i.e. WEP /WPA and it asks you to enter that key .

your router must have some WEP / WPA security key .therefore when security is truned off - its connecting - otherwise its not

by installing the printer wirelessly - what u are ACTUALLY doing is that u r making the printer available on the wireless network , just like any other computer - so what whenever u try to print wirelessly - a command is first sent to router which communicates with the wireless adapter.

check your security settings by accessing the router webpage

if have already installed the wireless printer,i think u must have disabled the router security when u had initially set it up.

tell me if i'm correct / not . Thanks!

check if the router has something like MAC filtering or not . u can enter MAC ID of the adapter to get it recognized. other than this security feature , u can check router's webpage to find what settings are there.........

I did enter the key and I know its the correct one.  When I couldn't get the adapter to connect I disabled the routers security settings just to see if it would connect.  It was able to connect.

so....... u r saying that printer only works when router's security is disabled ...

if thats the case and if u dont want it - uninstall the software -

reinstall the network installation with the security enabled -

also

since the wireless setings will be OK even if u unistll the drivers .

check the ip address of the printer - this is found on the printer itself -

u can ping the IP to verify if u r able to reach it or not

if thats is a YES , then during network installation with router security enabled :
select  "keep current wireless settings of the printer" - u wont have to connect and disconnect the USB cable then .
by doing so , if the printer is not detected automatically even ping to printer's IP is OK - try adding the IP address of the printer - sometimes it does get detected by that way.

do let us know if reinstalling drivers with security enabled worked or not -- simply because - there might be other security settings on the router which could be the reason here.
cheers!
