Right click on the Adapter within the network connections applet and perform the "Repair" function whihc is the same as the "Release & Renew" command from within a DOS shell.
Start>Run>Type cmd and hit enter. Type ipconfig /release hit enter then type ipconfig /renew and hit enter.
