Can receive emails but cannot send them
Hi
i currently have an eircom account and recently decided to get the emails coming into my computer instead of always loggin in via the internet to see my email
anyway my problem is that i can no problem receive emails in but the following error always comes up everytime i try to send an email
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.
The rejected e-mail address was Subject 'test', Account: 'David Marron', Server: 'mail1.eircom.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '451 http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=93.107.131.31', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 451, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
now i have contacted eircom at least 4 times and gone through all the eircom setting, i have closed off my firewall, i have even gone to the extent of putting the computer back to the factory settings and trying to send an email without any interent security at all on the computer
as you can imagine i am at my wits end with this and it is reallly starting to bother me
The computer that i have is a dell inspiron 6400 and the sercurity i use is AVG (most uptodate version)
is there anyone out there that has experienced this problem before and do they know of anything at all that i can do
Thanks very much for you help in advance

Jacks mam,
Please make sure that your settings are correct.

I would try disabling the email scanner in AVG as there was issues with it trying to scan and then the emails would not scan. If you have problems with AVG and I'm guessing you're using the FREE version, then I would un-install AVG and install FREE Avast Home Edition register for a key, it's free. Then you're good for one year. When your year is up, re-register and you're good for another year.:emotion-21:

I'm not familiar with that email service, but it sounds like it is a web mail acct, not a POP/SMTP server acct. And you don't say what email client you are using--Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail etc. This has nothing to do with your computer or Windows OS and everything to do with your acct setup, Internet Connection Provider and email program. Reinstalling Windows was futile. Try using this eir support page to set up the acct in your your email program. And you cannot send email from one provider through a different ISP. You need to use your ISP's mail to use their servers. Use your browser to get your webmail.
