Can you wirless Network a 6000d?

Well, we (Linksys and Dell TS) have not been able to create a workiable wireless network with just my I6000d. I purchased the Dell 3300 wireless printer adapter In April with the Dell AIO 962 printer. Later, at the advise of a Dell wireless TS, I purchased the Linksys wireless router  to connect both my DSL and AIO printer through the model WRT55AG router. Four Dell techs and 3 Linksys tech, later, and all have  failed to accompish this simple task. I have spent a total of about15 hours with them on the phone. I get the router working first per Dell TS recommendation and then get the printer adapter working, for a while. Within a day later the print software cannot find the printer or communicate with it. Then the router begins to splash me that the wirless connect is good but the speed drops among 1mb, 24mb, 36mb and then loses the connection. Somethimes repairs gets it re-connected but the above mb cycle quickly returns. I am running nothing wirelsss now and it all works flawless. It seems that you can get one to work wirelessly but not the rwo together.

I am pretty tired of installing, uninstalling, pinging, and resetting addresses. Unfortunatley Dell says it is too late to return items and there is no warranty process for returning the router or adapter. I have $250 worth of wireless equipment to sell on Ebay.

Anyone have a similar experience or a suggestion for fixing the above problems.

Sorry to hear about your problems.  Which model wireless network card do you have on the Inspiron?  If it is an Intel wireless adapter, have you read all of the messages on this forum concerning problems with the drivers for this card?

I have the Intel Pro wireless 2915ABG installed. I will research the forum for those issues that you mentioned to see if this is a common problem. I am very curious as to why this was not just a very simple networking setup.

Even if the printer adapter worked, I could not scan wirelessly only print. I was told by the TS for printers that it could handle both but Dell TS for networking said they are wrong. I said, then, the wireless printer adapter is NOT wireless, if I have to cable the I6000 to the AIO printer to scan. Dell TS are very nice and patience but very confused with limited tech knowledge of Dell products, IMHO. I still believe that I will find a way to have a truly wireless printer setup.  It  will remain all wired, for now.

An update from today is that I got Dell CS online and ask for the CEO address. Nancy, then, told be that she could arrange a refund with a 10% and 15% "depreciation" fee plus shipping costs. I accepted this offer. I guess this will cost me about $45 out about $250 spent. This is kinda of a happy ending. Well not reaaallly!

People have had many, many problems with the Intel 2200BG and 2915ABG mini-PCI cards.  To sum up the reviews:  they stink.  The 2200BG is more compatible with a wider range of 3rd party devices than the 2915ABG is, so get a 2200BG if you have a 2915ABG and get the latest drivers.  If you still cannot connect, ditch your expensive-integrated-Intel-TRASH-Centrino-no-working-piece-of-junk and buy a cheap Linksys PCMCIA card and get connected in 2 minutes.
