Cannot access settings webpage on Dell 3300 printer adapter utility
I am trying to access the settings webapge so that I can delete computers from the scan list. When I select the settings link it attempts to open the page but then the lights on the adapter start to flash and it seems to lose the connection with it ....... The other links e.g. status, information and security seem to work OK provided they are aceessed before I select the settings link. One the lights have started to flash I have to switch off the adapter and switch back to restore the connection to the network. The adapter is connected to a BTHomehub. Other than this issue the printer works fine through the network. Any suggestions why this is happening.
Thanks

alanc56,
If you know the ip address of the printer, it can be easy. Try...
Removing computers from printer scan list

Hello Rick
Thanks for your response ... these instructions are what I have been following ... it is when I select settings that the problem (highlighted in my posting) arise ....... I am thinking that it is the BT homehub which is causing the problem becuase several years ago I used to use a belkin router and I am sure that I accessed the settings OK.

alanc56,
I can type the ip address for my printer. Click on configuration, then click on Scan to Network Host Management. I can then reset all or remove the ones I do not want.
Do you have the 3300? Are all three light green? They have to be lit and the ip address for the print adapter needs to be put in your address bar.

Morning Rick
Yes I have all three green lights on the 3300 printer adapter ..... I have just typed in the IP address for my printer ... the Dell 3300 printer page has come up ... all green lights still on .... having clicked on the settings link .. the USB and the network green lights are now flashing .. the webpage has attempted to open with five bars on the progress strip .. 10 mins later this is still the same status ....... the only way out and for the printer to reconnect to the network is to disconnect the power from the adapter so it resets itself. I have not been able to get to the poit where you can delete the scan computer list.
Any Ideas what is happening

alanc56,
Sorry for the delay, busy work week.
What channel is your wireless router using? Try channel 11.

Hello Rick
I am using Norton 360 do you think that there could be any settings in this program which may be blocking communication with the wireless printer adapter when I select the settings link.

Hello Rick
Further to my earlier message regarding Norton I have Mcafee on one of my other computers and the problem still exists .. e.g. I cannot access the settings control .... Other suggestions .. I notice that the that the notes for the adpater firmware does not include a reference to the 968 AIO ... could this be the problem that the adpater does not provide all the functionalities for this printer? ... Another suggestion what should the wireless type be ... b/g/ or n ...... the BTHomehub setting page recommends all three but I am sure that I have read on one of the forums that the 3300 adapter does not use n .....

alanc56,
Try...
Allow a printer past Norton
Allowing Printer past McAfee
1. Open the McAfee Security Center and then click on the ‘Internet and Network’
2. To the right of ‘Internet and Network’ you would see all the services that are present under it, just below that you would have a button ‘Configure’ please click on that.
3. Now you would have the Internet and Network Configuration, in this window you would have an option ‘Firewall Protection in Enabled’ to the right of that you would have a downward arrow, click on that.
4. Then click on the ‘Advanced’ button which would have a new screen up.
5. To the left of that window you would have ‘System Services’ click on it and to the right pane of the window you would have the ports listed.
6. Please check the option which is for ‘Windows File Sharing’ then click on ‘Apply’ and then ‘Ok’
7. Restart the computer

alanc56,
If your wireless router has a firewall, try turning it off. Your computer still block these things with Norton and McAfee.
Did you also try...
Start, control panel, Windows Firewall, Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall. Change settings.
Look for the 3300 and maybe your printer, if it's listed. If it's not listed, click the browse button and locate the 3300. It should be in either...
C:\Program Files
or
C:\Program Files (x86)
It will be the .exe file.

Hello Rick
I am still having no luck ...... saying that I can access the settings page by halting the loading of the webpage then pulling the power on the adapter .. then putting the power back on ...... However . there is no link for Scan to Network Host Management ... I have done a screen print of what options are on the page that loads if that would be of any use to you..
Thanks

alanc56,
When you installed the printer on the problems machines, did you downloadc the drivers or install then using the printer disk?
When you installed the printer, did you choose network, then follow the instructions?

Hello Rick
I now have an additional problem ..... during my many attempts to access the settings .. the printer has decided to die on me ...... there is no no power .... I have read some of the other forums relating to such issues which you have contributed to..... I have changed the fuse in the power lead ... I have tried a new brick ... both bricks have a green light which goes out ... I have waited the 60 secs or so before reinserting ... still no power ......... did any of the people with the same problem find a resolution? Just in case this is the printer's way of telling me to give up ... I have ordered a new printer which should be delivered on Monday.

alanc56,
The power brick you used, was it from another printer? If so, did you try the power brick in the other printer to see if they both work?
Strange as it sounds, it sounds like the printer has maufunctioned.
