Cannot Connect to Internet Using IE6 MSn Search Feature.
I cannot connect to the internet from IE6SP2 MSN from the Search fearue; I also cannot use many of the saved links to the internet. I cannot connect to
www.buy.com;
www.foxsports.com, etc.
To date I have done all known fixes as outlined by others, i.e., delete cookies; delete files; delete and replace temp. files\ system restore, Highjack Thisand others. All are basically negative.
I have run Norton AV 2005, Spybot, AdAware, MS AntiSpyware. All show nothing.
Basically I have used virtually every tool available and no results.
I use Eudora Pro for e-mail and that works fine.
When I check the internet connection with my internet cable people, and adivse them I have over 63 TCP connections they advise I have bad spyware. And one and on.
Any suggestions besides a complete reinstallation?

What do you mean when you say you "have over 63 TCP connections"? Where are you seeing this?

Steve...what I am referring to is the internet connection thought my cable provider. If you go to:
programs/accessories/command prompt and at least with charter.net I type in netstat -a and if tells me how many connections there are. Since Charter advises that 10 or less is normal, when I have 63 I've got a real problem. OK?

Hi Steve.....When I go to Start\Programs\Accessories\command prompt, this takes me to the C:\documents&settings\(myname)> cursor. Here I type in netstat -a, which then takes me to the active connections I currently have in the TCP\IP internet cable company. Generally, according to Charter.Net, no more than ten should be open at one time. When I had 63 Active Connections, all they would say is, wow, some bug you have. That's all I know to tell you.
When I attempted to copy this log file for you, I was unable. If there is a way to do so, share that with me and I will send it to you.

Steve...there is quite a bit to write down and then copy to send. So, if you don't mind, let's skip this part. After all, it is only a show of active connections. Charter.net tells me there is not information to be gleaned which would be useful in determing spyware, only that you just must have it.
If you do not connect to the internet via cable, let me suggest you get with a friend or fellow worker who has internet cable and perfom the task there. While it will not be the same response as mine, it should give you an idea of what I am talking about.

Alright, let's not waste our time. Just for your information though, I do have cable and I might be able to glean somthing from the output that the inept techs at Charter cannot. But, I wouldn't want you to go to too much trouble to help you solve the problem. I've got better things to do as well. Good luck.

But Steve...what you can't seem to understand is that, the connection log is just that. It offers no assistance whatever in solving a spyware problem. It is for information only.
Best of Luck to you,

You were the one that seemed to be concerned about the large number of TCP connections. Have you posted your HijackThis log in the HijackThis forum? Otherwise, how do you know it is spyware? How do you know that that the netstat output won't help me help you? Do you want help or not?

Steve...Thanks for your support and concern. For four days I have been trying to solve my problem. I have used every resource available and nmothing helped.
Last evening before retiring I started AdAware and just left it. Previously it had found nothning, zero. This morning however, it had found two tragets which i immediately quarantined, reviewed, and deleted, rebotted. All day the computer is now back to normal. Many thanks for your concern and again for your support.
