Have you looked in Device manager to see if there are any listings with either a ! or X next to them?

Have you recently reinstalled your OS?

I have a Dim 8400. I turned it on a few days ago and the blue screen of death came up. Memory Dump.

So I ordered the memory cards from Dell and had them installed yesterday evening. Now I can not connect to the internet. I checked network connections, Broadcom and it states connected. It states A cable unplugged but it is plugged in. Changing the memory surely didn't cause this. It is like the ethernet is not being acknowledged. Any Ideas.

hold down the windows key and press the pause key. This will open the system propterties box. Click on the hard ware tab then on the device manger button.

A new window will popup listing all your hardware installed.

Look for any line that has a yellow ! or red X next to it

on the ethernet adapter there should be two lights an orange on and one that will change color most of the time it's yellow. These should be illumanted.

when connecting a computer to the ethernet connection it has to be off first.
