Did you install the chipset drivers as the first drivers installed after reinstallation of Windows? Without the chipset drivers, Windows will not be able to recognize or install drivers for many other devices. Once the chipset drivers are installed you need to install the drivers for your network adapter, video adapter, audio adapter, and modem.

I looked back at the Recovery CD's they sent me the application CD has my Dim 4700 as a choice for system.
The other CD is Dimention Resourse CD version:A12. It lists DM051, DV051, CD051, DXC051, DXP051 & DE051 under systems. No Dimensions 4700 to choose from. Does this mean they sent me the wrong CD?

I have no idea what a Recovery CD is, since I have never seen Dell ship anything with this name.  Further I have not idea what those codes mean.  If you have a Dimension 4700, then all drives can be downloaded from:
