CANNOT CONNECT to INTERNET

hi.

just bought my new dell inspiron 6400.  the problem is i can't connect to the internet thru DSL (PPPoE).  i used this user name and password on my old laptop (NO PROBLEM at ALL!!). but when i use my account to connect to the internet using the DELL INSPIRON 6400, i really can't connect.  tried to diagnose or repair but to no avail. i can see that the computer is connected to the network (modem with one ethernet connection) but when i try to connect to the internet, that's where the problem starts.

i tried to connect to my friend's network with internet connection. the connection to the network (MODEM with multiple LAN connection) is just fine but when i tried to open the internet, still NOT A CONNECTION!!

i ended up using my friend's laptop to send this message. please HELP ME!!

Also, try toggling the Fn + F2 keys to turn on/off the wireless?

Check the physical connection of the 2 antenna cables for your wireless card?

Try these?

1) Check to make sure the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties for your I6400's network connection are set to obtain the IP and DNS server addresses, automatically?

2) Make sure the router's web utilty is configured to allow the I6400 access to the internet?(including any security encryptions)
