Cannot connect to internet.
I have Inspiron 15 and Windows 8 wireless. Our ISP was down, tried to reconnect and found out it was down in the area. Next day, my husband was able to connect (Home Network) and continues (this is his computer). I couldn't. Have conferred with ISP. They couldn't fix it, said their info shows all good for my connection. Told me call Dell. Warranty is up. Laptop says I have available connections but when I try, it wants a security key. Back of modum/router Motorola sec. key entered. When I enter, will not accept. Suspect I've screwed up in my attempts to reconnect after ISP outage. Wireless shortcut key is "on". New modum was installed last week but as "his" connection works, not that???? Help.

Hi,
It sounds like your wireless profile that controls your connection to that router has become corrupted when the ISP went down. Check out this Microsoft article on deleting wireless profiles in Windows 8.
1. Power off your router (and leave it off)
2. Follow the directions in that article I linked above.
3. Power off your laptop (not restart)
4. Power up the router and wait until it's gone through it's entire power up sequence
5. Power up your laptop and let it fully load into Windows, then search for your local wireless network and try to connect.
You'll want to make sure that the security password on the router hasn't been changed from what is written on the back.
Let me know if the steps I listed above work. I think they will. If not let me know and I'll see what else I can suggest.
Oh, and here is a link to the Dell Wireless & Networking Support Center. There are some other things that you can try, that are listed in that support center.

Thank you so much Todd. After over a week, we did get this resolved through the ISP techs. Actually the result was achieved by renaming the security key. He had me insert a pen in the back of the modem which reset it and then we went back to the original security code and it worked. Hallelujah! Really appreciate your help...this sounds like the same type of solution with different wording. Happy Thanksgiving.
