Cannot connect to Wireless - Dell not responding
Apologies if this has been answered many times before - I did try searching - honest!
I recently purchased a brand new Dell MZ101 laptop/netbook - which is lovely! But - I cannot, no matter what I try, connect wirelessly.
My system is Starhub Cable - through a D-LInk 615 router. My old computer (Windows XP) and my i-touch both connect wirelessly with no problem at all. My new Dell will connect via direct cable to the same router - and works flawlessly - but - not wirelessly. It shows the network, allows me to enter the network key (currently WPA) says it is connecting - but then either fails completely or connects with 'no internet access'.
I have tried powering off modem/router etc - no luck, tried WPA2 and WEP - no luck. Tried the troubleshooter - no luck. Tried new drivers from Dell, from Broadcom, and via Windows Update - all no luck. Tried contacting Dell Technical Support through email - no response. I am using Windows 7 (64 bit) and I desperately need help! If anyone else has had and solved this problem - please let me have the solution!
Meanwhile - everything else continues to work beautifully on the same wireless network!

Did you make sure the toggle switch on the side of the laptop was switched "on" to start the wireless router? (it has a little radio tower icon beside it) It's also used for when you are flying and they tell you to turn off all wireless devices. You slide the switch to the off position and you can continue using your laptop with the wireless off. Sounds simple but Dell neglected to tell my friend that was her problem. She spent hours on the phone with Dell trying to get the router to work. Good luck!

sorry, yes - made sure wireless was on - and as I said - it connects - just with no internet access.
Update - in the last two days I did get wireless, the first time for about ten minutes, then it failed again and would not reconnect.
This morning, only 3 minutes when I first turned the computer on.

I created an "Ad Hoc Network" on my laptop and this solved my wireless problem. I connect to the Ad Hoc and it gives me a secure connection to my printer now with no problems. I also added my ad hoc to the the firewall settings so it wouldn't shut it out. Are you running Vista by chance?
