Cannot connect with Intel 4965 with WPA

I just received my Inspiron E1505 and it has the new Intel Wireless 4965AGN pre-N adapter in it.  I have Windows Vista Home Premium.   The wireless driver is version 11.0.0.74.  My router is the Netgear WNR834B with firmware version 1.0.3.8.

It will connect but it says "Limited Connectivity"  and I cannot access the internet.  I check the details of the connection and it says "Autoconfiguration IP Address xxx.xxx..."  which usually means it did not get an IP address.

I have the router wireless security turned on using WPA2.     Now I tried just turning off the wireless security and then I can connect just fine!

My router has only two options for the wireless security,  Off or combined WPA, WPA2.  I have double checked the security key.

My friend has an E1505 with the Dell wireless 1500, and he can connect to my router just fine with WPA on.

I do not want to turn off the security option.  Anyone else having problems like this???
Thanks.

Try assigning your computer a static IP in TCP/IP.

Since you have Vista you should create a profile and make sure that the following two boxes are checked off:

a.       Start this connection Manually

b.      Connect even if the network is not broadcasting

I just have the same laptop and configuration mentioned here with the same results. Just purchased it this month (March 2007) Nothing I try (Including your suggestion)is working.     I've searched for solutions all over the web to no avail

Please turn off your firewall and see if that helps? Also, can you connect without the the WPA enabled?

I found that the new drivers and Intel Pro Connect Software from the Intel Website work like a charm and allowed this machine to automatically obtain an IP where I couldn't before.

Use the latest Pro Connect Software and drivers released about a week ago on the Intel site.  Otherwise just assign your notebook a static IP address and it will connect.

I was having the same problem with the Intel adapter that I used to replace the Dell 1500 adapter that gave me the audio distortion problem.  It wouldn't make a connection until I assigned the static IP.

Go to Network Connections

Right click the Intel Adaptor and select properties

highlight TCP/IP v4 and select properties

Assign a static IP (192.168.1.2 for example)
Gateway default for netgear is 192.168.1.1
primary DNS 192.168.1.1

That worked for me.

But if you just go to the Intel website and get the latest release then it will connect without having to do all this.
