Cannot connect with new computer.

Question

Hi, I had an existing network with 4 computers for my family. OSs range from Win98 to Win2000. One was an internet connection sharing (ICS) host with the cable modem connected to it. It also has the printer connected to it and all are connected through a router either wired or wireless. I added a new computer as the new ICS host and moved the old host to a different location on the network. I can access the internet and print from all systems so I know that the network is functioning. My problem is that I cannot access shares on the rest of the network from the new host or access the shares on the host from the rest of the network. I can go between any other computers on the network, just not the host. The error messages the I get are: is not accessible. or The network path was not found. I ran the network setup wizard on the new host computer but not on the others since they were already setup. Do I need to go back and do that? Do I need to disable the ICS on the old host somehow? Side note: I used to be able to access shares on the new host from the other computers until I upgraded(?) the firmware on the router. Now I can’t go in or out.

If you are now using a router, then go back and disable the ICS function on the one computer.  The router will now perform the DHCP function.  On the inaccessability issue, disable the XP firewall and configure NetBIOS over TCP/IP in the advanced TCP/IP proerties tab under WINS.
