Hard to identify the problem without knowing more about your systems.
If youy don't have the wireless zero configuration service running, try starting it. Also try checking the box on the properties of the wireless device to let Windows manage the connection.
If you are using any encryption, insure that the AP and the client card have the same settings.
Try disabling, then re-enabling the connection to see if the device will connect.
Double click the connection. On the pop up windows, try clicking the 'repair' button.

If you have a 169.x.x.x address, you are not really connected.
