Cannot make successful network connection

Question

I just got inspiron 6000 with the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG and I have a Netgear MR814 V2. I cannot make successful connection. I can see the router from the laptop its listed in available wireless routers i see the my Netgear and I also see my neighbors (linksys) and I can connect to this and browse the internet, When I log into router I can see the new laptop and my old one  when look in wireless setting and  setup access list.   I cannot ping my router,  I cannot list ipaddress using ipconfig I upgraded the intel drivers from dell to driver version 9.0.2.25 Is my router compatible ?  Netgear MR814 V2

I think I found solution and it seems to work now !

I think I had the 5.03 on the router already and it says it fixed the wireless problem

So I upgraded to the newer version that did the trick. so far

I upgraded the router firmware to MR814v2 Firmware Version 5.3_05
