Cannot obtain my IP address

I have tried most options on this site. I knows it's gotta be something easy, but DELL Customer Service won't help me since my Latitude D610 is not registered in my name... I bought as a private sell off Craigslist. It's work great till Internet went down. ALL my other devices work fine, but I cannot obtain/acquire IP address. I've tried the cmd ipconfig release & renew, but it comes back with "No operation can be performed on local area connection while it has it's media disconnected. An error occurred while renewing interface wireless network connection.. The DHCP client has obtained an IP address that is already in use on the network.. The local interface will be disabled until. The DHCP client can obtain a new address"

I have gone into Network Connections, right click on Wireless Network Connection and click on Repair...and all I get is "Windows is taking the following action: Renewing your IP address". That message has a been up for over 1 hour now. HELP!!!

mellomac,

I'm guessing that the person that had the system reinstalled the operating system. If the drivers were not installed in the correct order, that would cause the wireless conection and a few other items not to work properly.

Links were posted in the above thread for your system

mellomac,

You have to install them in that exact order.

Dell Notebook System Software Utility First

Intel Mobile Chipset Driver Second

If these are not install in this order, then the system does not know what is attached to your system.

Rick,

I installed all in order, but when I went to download (unzip), it says "This self-extracting zip file is part of a multidisk zip file. Please insert the last disk of the set"

I have no set of disks.

What next?

mellomac,

Start, control panel, network connections, right click on wireless connections, left click properties.

Look for Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click on it, then click on properties

Have you settings match this...
