Cannot see a network printer

I am not able to see the HP printer on my son's 4550 (XP Home, Windows firewall disabled) from my 4100 (ME). Our network has been running fine, able to see and share each other's folders, and he can see my printer, but I cannot see his. Both computers are running ZA with our network IP range set to trusted.

Any ideas? TIA!

Can you find the printer if you do a search for the printer or specify it by name (\\compuername\printername) where computername is the name of the computer to which the printer is attached and printername is the shared name as specified in the sharing box on the computer to which the printer is attached.

Steve:

In the course of following your advice, the problem was solved. I had my son change the shared name from "HP Inkjet 682C" to something I could remember, "HP_682C", so that I could easily remember the name to search for it. As soon as I did that and refreshed my network shares, it showed up.

Thanks! Have a great Christmas!
