You should be able to install the desktop/notebook system utility and the chipset drivers, then install the rest of the drivers in order and everything should start working.
i have not installed drivers, etc, in that order so how do i undo what i did and perform the installation in the order suggested in the link you provided?
Ok, i just downloading everything for my service tag and installed in the order according to your link and i still cannot see wireless network connection anywhere.
In addition, If this is XP and not upgraded to XP SP2 or SP3, then computer will NOT have WPA encryption. You'll need to attach it with the Ethernet cable and get Windows Updates.
I am using an ethernet cable now to hit the internet
i have completely updated all service updates as well as SP1,2, and 3
i entered my exact service tag number and got all relevant drivers for my system
i installed all drivers, chipsets, etc according to the order as specified in the link you provided
i went into the bios and made sure everything was enabled
after all this, when i his FN+F2, I can appear to toggle wireless on and off. it is currently on.
i still cant find anywhere to set up a wireless connection
one more thing, in my device manager, i see a "Network Controller" as well as a "video controller" under other devices that have the yellow question mark. not sure how this can be as i seem to have installed every driver under the sun. however, because of this, i am beginning to think it's more of a driver issue.
oh, and under conrol pannel, i have a program called "wireless configuration utility" but when i cannot get it to run.

wichitamsu,
When you reinstalled XP, did you install the desktop/notebook system utility and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
