Cannot view wireless networks

Question

I have an Inspiron 700m laptop running XP. The other day, it quit connecting to my network. When I go into 'View Wireless Networks' the only thing that comes up is 'Free Public Wifi' with two bars. If I try to connect to this, nothing happens. My network is operating as I can access with my other computers. Has my wifi card went bad. Are there any test I can preform to check out the wifi card? Any other suggestions that I may try? Thanks in advance for your help. Bill
