Can't access secured sites

Question

I just bought a Ispiron B130 and I have a Netgear MR814v2 router.  I can access the internet but it will not log on to my banking sites.  It just sits there and works.  When I install the adapter, MA111v2, that is the only time it will let me access those sites.  I have brought the laptop to different locations and it connects fine.  I just don't know why it won't work in my home.  The router is about 2 years old.
