Can't configure 2300 through wireless connection!

Hi,

Yesterday, after installing my new Truemobile 2300 on my new Inspiron 5150 I've had the following problem:

Two networks connections were established - physical (LAN) and wireless. I'm able to connect to the net being wired and wireless, no problem there. However, when I try to connect 2300 control utility wirelessly (to configure the router) the connection doesn't establish. Weird, coz as I said connection to the net is no problem. I have to pull connect with my network cable via lan to get to 2300 configuration.

My guess would be some mix-up with IP addresses. My wireless connection IP is xxx.xxx.x.3 however, 2300 configuration screen recognises it as xxx.xxx.x.0. I've tried to change it, but it seems it's an automatic setting that occured during initial set up (?)

Can anyone help to solve this? Basicaly I want to be able to connect to 2300 configuration wirelessly.

Thanks!!!

try using the web interface to configure the router....type 192.168.2.1 into your internet explorer address bar....if this works, simply remove the utility from your system, you don't really need it....

No I think I'll stick with it. Comes in handy with a couple of things.

Except it has a known bug in that it calls the wrong IP address when trying to connect to the 2300 and won't work.  Uninstall it and use the web interface.

OK, thanks for the tip. However, is uninstaling nesessary? Or should I just forget about using the control utility?

As I said: my network works absolutely fine (even with that incorrect IP adress). I only discovered it when I wanted to open a couple of ports and tried to conect to the utility through wireless connection. Web-utility is fine. Is there any conflict situation if I keep the utility installed?

Thanks for help!

No conflict, but neither wireless or wired will work with the 2300 utility.  It is the utility that addresses the wrong IP address.

Just searched my way to this thread.

I have the exact same issue. Does the utility provide anything different than the web interface?

The web based configurtion tool allows you to everything and more than the software.  It give you access to all settings and it the preferred way to access the settings on the router.
