cant connect to internet

Question

hi my wireless internet works fine, however when i turn wireless off and try to connect it through a normal wire coming from my router then it doesnt work, (says something about a limited conectivity).... this happens everywhere so its not just my router - ive tried it at a number of different houses. it is important that this internect connectivity has to work as i have to work online abroad soon, and cant do so as there is no wireless signals where i am going... so please somebody help me   (inspiron 6400)

Your wireless adapter and ethernet adapter are two separate adapters in your computer. Check to make sure all the  internet/network settings are identical for each one, both computer and router? Power cycle the network after doing so...

You could also try to check if the LAN is working by checking your local IP address. Goto Start>Run type in 'cmd' - a window will open. Type there Ipconfig/all   see what you get for IP address , is there something or just 0.0.0.0 or empty?
