Can't Connect to Wireless Connection
Two days before Christmas we received our new Inspiron 6000. It worked great! Then last night it could no longer connect to our wireless router. It is picking up the signal full strength. Called Dell they said it isn't the hardware, it is the software. They want 100.00 to fix it. With a computer not even a week old and no longer connects. How is it possible for it to connect just fine, then we shut it down and turn it off. Then about an hour later when we go to use it the software is bad?
Did any one else have this problem or know how I can fix it?
Thanks

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

Hey, at least you can see your network. I have two new laptops - one can detect my wireless router, and one can't, even though they're both set up the same way!
Good luck with your problem - it seems like there a lot of similar ones out there.

Your ipconfig output show that your wireless adapter is either turned off or not enabled. Pressing the Fn F2 key combination toggles the wireless adapter on and off. Try using that to turn it on. Also make sure the adapter is enabled. To do this go to Start > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections, then right click on your wireless connection. If there is a choice to enable, click on that. If the choice is disable, then it already enabled.

We tried turning it on by usin gthe FnF2 buttons, but it was already one. Also checked to see if it was enabled and it was. Any other ideas?
Thanks for the help!

Run ipconfig again after doing making sure the Fn F2 key combination has turned the card on. If it still says that it is not enabled, then it suggests that you have a bad network card. Try running the diagnostics on the card. It should be in the Stat/All Progeams under Dell.
