I have been printing and scanning just fine with my Dell V313W via USB. Then I went WiFi and have the following "symptoms." (My router is 5 feet from my printer.) Prints in my word prossessor but "Not connected" when I try to print e-mails. Will not scan from my word processor. "Not connected" when I try to use my scan program (Vuescan.) "Not connected" when I try to use Dell Toolbox. In Control Panel>Devices and Printers>[I have Dell V310 Series (Network), Dell V310 Series (Network) (Copy 1) (Default), Dell V310 Series (USB) and Dell V310 series (USB (Copy1)] both "Network" printers print test pages and scan. I have no idea why I now have 4 V310 Series printers! I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Dell and unplugged and re-plugged everything multiple times. Re-connecting the USB now gives all the same results. I have cold booted and combination of "fixes." I have a new CISCO Linksys E3000 with 3 networked (ethernet) computers which "interact" just fine. What am I missing???? (I keep posting this problem, but nothing shows up in the window.) I must be brain-dead this a.m.
What type of security are you using on your wireless network? What channel?
What type of virus program and firewall is on the problem computer(s)?
During electrical sotrms and power flickers, thenusually mess the routers and wireless devices up. Powering them off for 30 seconds, then turning on the ISP modem/router, wait 15 seconds, then power on the wireless router(if any). Also power off the printer for 30 seconds, then power back on.
Restart your computer and you should be able to connect.
With the computer online, insert the printer disk and follow the instructions. At some point, it will ask you to attach the printer(powered on)
Allowing Printer past McAfee
1. Open the McAfee Security Center and then click on the ‘Internet and Network’
2. To the right of ‘Internet and Network’ you would see all the services that are present under it, just below that you would have a button ‘Configure’ please click on that.
3. Now you would have the Internet and Network Configuration, in this window you would have an option ‘Firewall Protection in Enabled’ to the right of that you would have a downward arrow, click on that.
4. Then click on the ‘Advanced’ button which would have a new screen up.
5. To the left of that window you would have ‘System Services’ click on it and to the right pane of the window you would have the ports listed.
6. Please check the option which is for ‘Windows File Sharing’ then click on ‘Apply’ and then ‘Ok’
I usually use Firefox as I really dislike IE but there are a few sites that don't behave unless I use IE.
WAP, 11
McAfee
I did the whole shut-down routine (reset) routine.
Keep in mind (might be relevant) that I can connect using WiFi in some application and not in others. I did completely un-install and re-install the printer which helped a little. I can now scan in Windows Fax/Scan. And to use my scan application, I connect the USB. I will continue to experiment. Due to a print head problem, I've ordered a V715w. maybe that will fix the problem.
Thanks. I'll go through the steps and let you know. This is like the old days when I was the community (very small) go-to guy. I found out it took a cold boot to install a modem.

Mike_Stahl,
Your posting is caused by Internet Explorer 9
Some Web sites may not behave as expected in Internet Explorer

Mike,
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.
Disconnect the printer(if wireless, it's already disconnected)
Uninstall the printer.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
With the computer online, insert the printer disk and follow the instructions. At some point, it will ask you to attach the printer(powered on)
