Can't Detect Wireless Networks???

Question

Hey, ive set up a wireless network at home to an DSL connection (using a desktop PC). My brother and I both have inspiron 8600 notebooks with intel wireless cards. Mine can detect the network fine and connect perfectly using windows wireless networking however his can't even detect the network (the SSID). I have checked that the router (a Netcomm NB1300 +4) has beacon and SSID enabled. Also i tried installing a netcomm USB wireless card and it still didnt detect the network? Any ideas.   My brother uses his 8600 mostly at school and it can pick up the network fine there, so  dont think its a problem with his wireless card??   Also network is not encrypted and I'm sure it should be getting great coverage from the wireless router (ie 3 metres away)   thanks in advance

It may be worthwhile updating the Intel wireless card drivers as within the last week or so Dell has put out some new drivers for the 2200BG and 2915ABG wireless cards which are a vast improvement on the earlier version.

Both contain the same version drivers.
