Can't get new Mini XP to connect to the wireless network in my house

I gave myself a huge headache on this one too.  You have two different programs on your computer to manage internet connections, one is dell and the other is windows.  Windows is the one that most people use.  Dell is the one that comes as the default on your computer. 

To fix this go to your start button click on Run. 

type in     services.msc

You will have a new window pop up with a list of programs find the one titled Dell Wireless WLAN Tray Service

click on it once to highlight

once it is highlighted there should be a link on the left that says stop the service

click on stop

then go down the list until you find Wireless Zero Configuration

click on start to activate the Windows Wireless manager

ipconfig /all          (space between the g and /)

Hit enter. Then copy and paste the results here.

Hey, thanks so much.  I think that did it, but in addition to stopping the Dell Wireless Tray option, I also disabled it. That seemed to allow the Wireless Zero Configuration option to stick, even after rebooting.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Maybe I'll end up loving this little Mini after all!

First, you were connected with the ethernet cable when you did the log, correct? I do not see an ip address for you.

What type of wireless router are you using? What type of security are you using with your wireless router? What is your isp?

Maybe we should make a new post and you give some details on what is or is not happening. Please don't let out the little details, like I just did a clean installation of my operating system, etc...

Just copy everything you just posted to a new thread and in the subject line say you cannot connect. It will cause less confusion. Have to go. Bad electrical storm in area.. I will be on later as will others that may be able to help you.

Thank you for helping me, I appreciate it.

First, I did try to connect using the ethernet cable, but still was unable to connect.  When I did the log, I was trying to connect to the internet using my wireless connection. I noticed no ip address as well..

My wireless router is D-Link rangebooster g and my isp is comcast.  I'm not sure what you mean by type of security, sorry! 

I haven't done anything, installation or otherwise.  Just took it out the box, plugged into outlet for power, and clicked on the internet.  This is what I did to my other laptop and it works just fine as does my desktop, so I know its not the internet per say.

I recently purchased a verizon usb card for internet service, and that doesn't work either, just an FYI, but it works on my other laptop.  Let me know if you want me to creat another/new post.
