Can't get windows updates

I have never been able to get windows updates since I received my computer. Dell will not address the issue. Has anyone had any experience in this or in being able to escalate this issue to someone who can help without incurring a service charge for something that has never worked?

You need a better explanation of what is happening.  Is your system set to obtain Windows updates automatically?  What exactly happens when you attempt to get Windows updates?  Is your system free of spyware and viruses?

I too am having problems with trying to logon to Windows Update. I cannot do it either from the Start button or on the Windows website. Is it because I have set up an automatic Update through my XP software?

Thanks

These are really not networking questions, rather they are software questions and you might get a better response in the Software - Windows XP forum.  My first suggestion, however, would be to make sure that there is no spyware or other internet parasites running on your computer and that it is completely free of viruses, trojans, and worms.
