Can't run network setup disk on windows Me.

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a network between 2 computers, one running XP and the other running ME. I create a network setup disk using XP and try to run it on ME but it tells me "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer."

I'm not aware of anything that could be causing this, my firewall is turned off. Any suggestions?

I wasn't aware you could run that disk on an ME box.  The network isn't that hard to set up.  What are the particulars.

Broadband or dialup?  If broadband, man, spend $20 and get a router and you headaches go away.

just change the work group names of the computers.  You will probably need to install an older protocall on the xp box.  ie netbui or spx/ipx.

Hi,

I don't know what you want to know when you say particulars but I'm trying to set up an ethernet connection between the two computers using an ethernet crossover cable. I run the setup wizard on XP and it tells me to use the setup disk on the other computers on the network and when I try it says the there are restictions on my pc.

Thanks for the help.
