Can't share printer on home network

Question

Network consists of Host computer: Dell dimension 2350 desktop running xp connected to Dell 962 AIO device, Lynksis router.  Client computer: Dell Inspirion 1505 laptop running vista HE. This network has worked before with no problems. I recently had to install new harddrive. After the installation I updated all windows which included service pack 3. I dont know if this matters but it is the only difference from the old setup. The printer driver is loaded on both computers and when I try to print from client it reads 'windows cannot print due to current printer setup'. I have tried to install reccommended updated drivers from dell help and solutions but when downloaded they mess up the host, taking away the AIO center that allows scanning etc. There are no problems with internet connections. On client, when looking at network devices printer does not show. Added printer It says the printer is added but no change in outcome. I am lost for solutions. Can I not use this network because of the different OS? I don't want to lose the ability to fully use the printer on host just to print from client. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Set up the Network again and enable File and Printer Sharing. Also reinstall the printer on the client computer after sharing it. Use the Network and Sharing Center on the vista computer to add the network printer and follow the instructions in Help there. Make sure the former printer setup is deleted from the vista computer before reinstalling it.
