Can't Use Wireless

hello ppl, i'm a newbi to the message bord,

umm.. my problem is that i have a inspiron 2200 with a built in wireless card but for some reason it won't work.

i was told by a friend to install the correct drivers for it to work BUT i didn't get a copy of any of the drivers, and the school that i attend requires me to use the wireless feature,

Can any one help??  any assistance would be appreciated.

Please provide more information since I don't know your friend of what your friend did to determine that you needed drivers.   Does the wireless adapater show up in Device Manager when you expand the listing for Network Adapters?  Does it show up in Network Connections?   Is it turned on?  (Pressing the Fn and F2 keys simultaneously toggles the wireless card on and off).  Does the wireless network you are trying access use any security features?

No, it does not show up in network connections, i hav never used the wireless on this laptop before it is  a couple of weeks old, and yes it is on but based on passed experiences there should be an icon in the tray  to indicate wether the connection is strong or not but nothing happens.
