Change of ISP

I have just changed ISP and from USB to Ethernet connection with the modem.

My activity bar (?) at the top of the screen still says 'Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Freeserve' ...Freeserve being my previous ISP.

I have noticed when connecting to Hotmail that the taskbar at the bottom shows a few rapid messages before it connects...could I shorten the search by removing the link to the former ISP?

Matt.

From a run command type:  gpedit.msc

Go to USer Configuration>Windows Settings>Internet Explorer Maintenance>Browser Interface>Browser Title

From there you can clean out what is in there or make your own custome title.

Thanks JMW, but command tells me this is not a valid command - I also tried 'misc' just in case.

I am on XP SP2 - does this make a difference?

Matt.

PS - It is more an irritation than a problem

gpedit.msc is a valid command. (Group Policy Editor)

Did you try this from a Command Prompt or form the Run Command?

Or the hard way:

[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Modify/Create the Value Name [Window Title] according to the Value Data listed below.
Data Type: REG_SZ [String Value] // Value Name: Window Title
Value Data: [Enter The Text Desired In Title Bar]
Exit Registry and Reboot

I tried from both the Command and the Run prompts...when I tried to do it the 'hard way' in regedit,  I got to Main, but had no 'modify' so gave up.

I think I will live with it - installed Firefox 3 today and the Freeserve bit has gone.

Thanks again for your assistance and advice...

I guess you are on the home version.

Regedit will do it, just search freeserve and edit.

You can change your seach preferences to eliminate them also

Or just download firefox and use IE for MS updates
