Changing channels

Hi All

This is my first visit here and I am hoping at least one of you can answer or solve my problem.

I have used Wi-spy to check interference in my area and the channel (11) I am using is the most congested. When I change to another channel I can no longer see the connection on either my laptop running windows 7 or my other computer running windows vista. Can anybody help.

I have tried chanels 1, 6, and 7.

I play an on line game world of warcraft and the latency since my ISP virgin media suplied a new modem which they call the super hub from Netgear has increased to over 3000 at times with my previous modem this was between 24 and 160 approximately. When I use a cable this latency drops to 25.

Hi Tyber,

The wireless card is designed to scan multiple channels, although few cards do have the ability to look for only one. Here are a few steps you can try.

  1. Go to Device Manager, right click on your wireless adapter and click on properties, search for an option to change the channel, mostly under 'Advanced'
  2. Go to 'Network & Sharing' center (Assuming you are on windows 7), click on Manager wireless networks on the left and delete your Wireless Profile.

Do let me know if this works, also Welcome to the community !!

Please note that in the future its always better to post what you have eg. OS ver, Wireless card..etc . This would help us help you better. :emotion-1:
