What do you mean when you say "when I leave the internet"?  Are you closing Internet Explorer or just changing to a different task?  Are you sure it is Windows Explorer that is not responding or is it Internet Explorer (they are two completely different programs)?

Do you get an error message asking you to send a report to Microsoft?  If so, if you click on the link to show the details of the error report, what does it say?

Hi Steve,

I click on the X at the top of the screen to close down the internet. The screen freezes, and I use the task manager to find out the problem. It says Windows explorer is not responding, so I have to close the progam, and restart windows. I clicked on the report once it just said not responding and told me how many times. (36)

thanks Lil

When you say "I click on the X at the top of the screen to close down the internet", do you mean that close Internet Explorer (you're not closing down the internet, because it is still working for the rest of the world, thankfully :-)

To troubleshoot this problem further, start Internet Explorer with no add-ons and see if the problem is still there.  To do this, go to Start > All Programs > System Tools > Internet Exlorer - No Add-ons.

If the problem is not there in this mode, then you have somehow acquired a problem Add-on and we can take steps to isolate that problem.  Let us know if the troublehsooting step temporarily solves the problem.

What says this?  So does closing internet explorer work correctly with the add-ons disabled?
