Hi,

Check out this thread detailing how to remove the error 31 message from network cards.  I think the regedit described in it will resolve your problem.

I hope this helps.  If not, please right click on my Dell Todd username and send me a private message with the Dell Service Tag of your E5430.  Please keep all troubleshooting discussions here in this public thread so that others can find help if they have the same issues.

Thank you,

Todd

Hi,

If you're not seeing that registry subkey then please check Device Manager and make sure you delete all the drivers that are showing for the Intel wireless card.  Reboot your system and let it fully load, then look to see if the registry subkey is there (I doubt it will be, but check).

Try again to install the driver from the Dell website and see if you'get the same error.   Unfortunately, if that subkey is not in your registry I'm not sure what else you can try to resolve the issue.  I would NOT delete any of the other 4 keys or strings you see.   That could make things worse, but I'm unsure what would happen.

You may also want to try resetting Windows back to right after you did the reinstall, via a Restore Point.  This, hopefully, would be before whatever corrupted driver install happened that affected the registry.  Maybe at that point you would be able to see the correct subkey as described in the link above.
