Computer Freezing in My Network Places
I'm having some problems with my Inspiron 6000. I have it connected with wireless (WPA-TKIP) and am trying to access shared files over my LAN. I can connect fine between all other computers on my LAN (wired and wireless, windows, linux, and mac). But when I try to access anything from my Inspiron, the window just locks up (says Not Responding in the title bar). I can transfer MOST of the time via FTP across the LAN. Sometimes that freezes up too.
The other day I couldn't get files from over the LAN, so I went to pull them from my web server by FTP. That too, locked up. I had to go put the files on a usb key so I could get them on here.
I'm getting really annoyed at this, since I use this computer for all of my Photoshop and web development work since it has the nice big widescreen display. But not being able to transfer the files from my servers is not making me very happy.
Any help would be very appreciated :)
Thanks,
Matt Banks

Are all your software firewalls configured correctly for network and internet access?

Yes, I'm only using the Windows Firewall and the box is checked for File and Print Sharing on all systems.

These formats use various LAN protocols. Are you sure that you have them configured correctly on the 6000?
Also, consider your router network settings on your 6000?(encryption, SSID, MAC addresses, etc.)

All the settings on all systems are fine. I can access every system from every system except this laptop. I have another Dell laptop (600m) connected via the interal wireless card and it has no problems accessing network shares. Everything is set up fine in the router, as this laptop connects fine, can see the computers under My Network Places, but freezes when I try to access any shares.
Also, the web server I was having problems FTP'ing from is over the WAN, not a LAN box. It can accessed fine from any other system on my network.

No, this problem happens only wireless with this laptop. It will sit for about 2-3 minutes frozen then it will load the file list. I let it sit today to see what would happen. I'm guessing there's some windows component that is messed up maybe?

Just so I'm clear, you have this problem with your Inspiron hard-wired to the router and wirelessly connected to the router?

Have you installed the most recent driver for your Inspiron's wireless card?

Yes, I updated the drivers today for the intel 2915abg card as well the the dell 350 bluetooth (also bios), but no such luck in solving the issue.
