What is the full and exact text of the message telling you it isn't compatible?

Let's ignore the Netset Assistant for a moment.  If you go into Device Manager and expand the listing for Network Adapters, does your ethernet network adapter show up there?  If you open Network Properties, does your Local Area Connection show up there?

What kind of broadband modem do you have (cable or dsl)?  If it is a cable modem, are you resetting the entire network every time you change the device connected to the modem?  This is necessary because cable modems remember the last device connected to them and will not connect to any other device until the modem is reset (powered off for five minutes then powered on with the new device connected).

When I run the Netset Assistant from Linksys, after running the check of the system to assess network compatibility, it will not continue and is stating that "Computer does not meet the minimal requirements for creating a home network".  I had the network up and functional just this morning.  Thanks for your time!

Everything is good in the device manager, no red marks or question marks, and all network devices are working properly.  My LAN does show up in network devices and is also working properly.  I have a dsl modem thru sbc, not cable.  I am getting extremely frustrated with this entire thing!  But I do appreciate your help!  Thanks!

When you say that you connected it back to your modem, did you do so with a USB connection or an ethernet connection?  What happens when you try to connect to the router (not the modem) through a wired ethenet connection?  To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

I'm sorry, The dsl modem is connected via an ethernet directly into the computer.  I don't have an internet connect if I connect it via the router.  I'm very confused also!

Well, that's confusing.  When you ran this ipconfig command, how was the computer connected?  You didn't answer my questions in the previous post.

I need you to run the ipconfig /all with the ethernet cable connected to the router and the router connected to the modem.   Copy the output, save it in a text file, then connect to the modem, log on to the forum and copy the output from the text file into a reply to this message.

ok, now it is working again.  Go figure!  All I did was plug the cord back into the router and everything is back to how it was.  Thanks for all of your help!

Maybe this will help - I've been working on this same problem for 3 days.  I have Norton Internet security 2006 and did virus scan too - no problems.  However, when I ran Pest Control - I found 3 pests - on big one was a hijack pest - got it when I loaded Adobe Reader 7.0 - called MyWebSearch - also had WebFun.  I could get on to Yahoo.com, but everytime I tried to go anywhere else, I'd get the error message of page can't be displayed.  I tried everything - Winsockfix - ipconfig  - and ping - when I saw that my router was communicating with computer and that I had a ? in my IP address - I realized it was defintely a pest or virus.  So do a search on your computer and see if you have any of these.  Once I deleted them - (you have to delete them, reboot, and then scan before opening browser again to get rid of them) I'm back in business!  Hope this helps!
