Computers cannot connect to each other on network

Question

Looking for a solution. I'm attempting to network two computers, a Dimension desktop and an Inspiron 8600 equipped with an Intel PRO wireless minicard. I can't seem to get both computers to recognize each other, although I can get one of the computers (but never both) to recognize the presence of the computers. The other computer recognizes the network, but cannot list either computer. Both computers are able to connect to the Internet through a wireless router. The desktop is wired to the router, while the Inspiron is not. I think I've tried every configuration allowed by Windows' network wizard. Currently, my Inspiron is able to view both workgroup computers, although when I click on the Dimension I cannot view any files, nor can I map a network path. (The network settings on both computers are identical: same workgroup name, same protocol settings, etc.) However, my Dimension cannot view the computers, although it detects the network workgroup. Attempting to view the list of workgroup computers gives me an error message saying that there is no network path. The Dimension does not even recognize itself, although it does display its 'Shared Folder' on its local network screen. Any suggestions? Again, thanks in advance for your help.
