connected, but no internet

When I go to see my networks, it says that I am connected and have an excellect connection. However, I am unable to view any webpages. Interestingly, I am having a similiar problem when I try to connect using my dial up service. It will dial up and say I'm connected and logged on, but then will automatically try another access number because the program cannot load its homepage. I am absolutely stuck and frustrated. I've tried to read some of the other posts with similiar problems but am still stumped. Also, it is neither a problem with the network, as other computers can connect to it nor my dial up company, as my old laptap can still connect using dialup. Any help would be awesome!!!

It would be useful to know which version of Windows you are running.  Try running lspfix from the following site and see if that corrects the problem:

sorry, I'm using Windows XP service pack 1. I am downloading and will try the program you suggest. thanks!
