Are you sure that the connection is to your router and not another nearby router? Right click on the wireless network icon and select "View Available wireless networks". If it shows both your router and some other router, click on "Change the order of preferred networks", move yours to the top and remove the other network.
I have the same problem, I bought a Inspiron 1150 about a month and a half ago, I bought a wireless card and got an excelent connection. But I could not browse the internet through any web browser, I checked for an IP adrress everything was right. I connected straight to the modem same problem. I called Dell support 4 times now and no dice they cannot help me. Just wondering if anyone had the same problem and was able to fix it. I leave for Kuwait in a couple days, I need my notebook, any help would be very appreciated. Thanks
It is very difficult to deal with more than one problem in the same thread. It gets quite confusing, and is also rude to the person who asked the original question. Try downloading and running winsock fix for Windows XP from
This Site. Note that you will have to download the file on a computer that can make an internet connection, copy it to a floppy or CD, then copy it to the problem computer and run it. If that doesn't solve the problem, then post back and start you own thread, rather than replying to someone elses thread.
