Connecting to Internet after Reinstalling

I recently installed XP Professional on my Inspiron 1300 removing the default setting and OS which is XP Home.

Now I don't know how to connect to Internet. I don't know how to install all the hardwares like Ethernet Card, Wireless card so that I can connect to Internet.
When I got to my computer's Network settings and click View all connections, I don't find either Local Area Network or Wireless. I have no idea how to install all these networking hardwares sitting inside my system.
Please throw lights!

Thanks Steve. I really appreciate it. I got to find a system with Internet and install things by order. Thanks again for those useful links and instructions.

Thanks Steve.

I found some drivers for Wireless and stuff. Is there anything driver that has to be installed for using my Internet(Cable modem)through wired network? I mean LAN.

Yes, you need to install the drivers for the ethernet network controller -

Hopefully you installed the chipset drivers before even attempting to install other device drivers or you will run into other problems.

See the following for information on the correct order that you need to install the drivers:

All drivers for your system can be found at:

You will have to download these drivers on a computer with a working internet connection then copy them to removable media to get them to your 1300.
