Connecting to Internet Problem

When I try to connect to the internet my MSN homepage will come up and then I get an error message and it closes.  I try several times and eventually it will allow me to connect.  It is getting harder to get connected and the same error message appears and it closes. Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix this problem? Error Message: Microsoft iexplore.exe

Is there more to the error message than what you posted?  Is your system free of viruses, spyware, and malware?   Does the same problem occur if you open Internet Explorer without Add-ons (right click the Internet Explorer Icon and select "Start without Ad-ons"?  Does the same problem occur if you boot to Safe Mode with Network Support?

I have McAfee Virus Protection.  It is up to date and there appears to be no virus.  When I try to connect to the internet the homepage comes up and then a Microsoft internet Error message appears and gives you the option of send error message or cancel.  I keep trying to connect around 8 or 9 times and eventually it will let me connect.  This just started approximately a week ago and it seems to be getting harder to connect (more attempts).  I work from home and my computer is my work.  I am not sure exactly what to do on the internet icon when I right click on it I have only the choices of Open Home Page, Create Shortcut, Delete, Rename or Properties. Is there a different virus scan I should run? Thanks in Advance for the patience and help.

First, when you get the message to send an error report, click on the linke to view the error report.  Write down and report here the ApName and ModName involved in the error.

Which version of Internet Explorer do you have?  That will make a big difference on how you disable Add-ons.   If it is version 7, you need to right click on either the icon on your desktop or the icon in the Start Menu.

What about testing it by booting to Safe Mode with Network Support?  Does the same thing happen there?

App. Name: iexplore.exe
Modname: urlmond.dll

It what error message reports.

How can I tell what version Explorer I am running?

How do I go about testing it in Safe mode?
Sorry, I am drawing a blank on how to do this.

Thanks!

Make sure Mcafee doesn't have the sites cookies blocked, using mcafee myself, not to happy, it does clean up my "cookies" but for the most part it has "reconized" all my programs and has "allowd program access" so problem is just the oppisite.. "flush" your dns cache ipconfig /flushdns... best I can do
