Connecting to internet through cable modem

I have a dimension 3000. I installed an ethernet card to connect to my cable modem. Is there a different way to connect to my modem without using an ethernet card? I would like to free up the PCI slot currently taken up by the ethernet card.

Check with your ISP to see if they offer a modem that connects via a USB cable.  That would solve your problem although the ethernet card will offer better performance.

Why did you install a PCI card Ethernet adapter? The 3000 has integrated Ethernet support on the system board - no card is needed.

Hi Smd747,

You need to contact the tech support at your cable company.
