Connecting to the Internet through a Wireless Network

Something has changed within the last 48 hours that has prevented me from accessing the internet through Wirelss Networks.  The wireless network connection status reads 'Connected', but I cannot access the internet.  Something must have changed within my settings within the last two days, but I do not know where to start.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Start simple, unplug the power to your cable modem and wireless router.  Plug the modem in first and let it connect then plug your router in second.  Is WEP active on your router?

Thank you for your response.  I am able to connect to the internet to my wireless router when I am home.  But now when I am at the Library or the Coffee Shop, I am no longer able to connect to the internet - when I once was, and I am no longer able to see the files that were listed on my husband's computer under 'my network places.'
