connecting to the internet
i can connect to my secured wireless router but if my computer goes into hibernation or shuts down somehow it will not remember the security verification for some reason even those the box is checked tell it to remember. i have to put the code everytime. any suggestions?

Sounds like Control Point can't write a profile to wherever it's trying to save it. Let's start by turning off Control Point management of your network connections and letting Windows handle it:
Network Settings screen appears.
Manager→Profiles→Change Settings→Program Settings. The Program
Settings screen appears.
recognized and managed by the DCP Connection Manager.
You should be able to go into Control Panel and open network connections, then double click on your wireless connection. Windows will probably pop up a box asking you if you want to let Windows manage your wireless connection.
Set it up like you did earlier, and see if the changes stick.

dell control point? i go to CONNECT TO A NETWORK through the control panel and then it seems like i have to deal w/ dell control point. i've tried to ADD A PROFILE but it won't let me anymore. very annoying.

And make sure profile security is unchecked. It prevents writing to the profile file, which sounds an awful lot like the problem you are having.

No problem. I'm not sure how to do it, since I've never actually submitted a thread, but if what I posted worked can you mark the thread as "solved"?

man you're a life saver. i tried to disconnect once but i thought dell was making me use theirs. anyways, this is a very cool thing from Dell to let everyone help each other out. take care!
