You would also need a PCI wireless network card in the old computer if you want them to communicate in ad-hoc mode (without a router or access point in between).
Had to look but I'd say yes - when I set up my SMC card using the SMC WLAN utility I can set a WEP key in AdHoc mode. Learned something there. Thanks for the heads up.
